The 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup

According to our friends at Wikipedia, the Cheltenham Gold Cup is the highlight of the Cheltenham Festival.

The Cheltenham Gold Cup is a Grade 1 National Hunt horse race run on the New Course at Cheltenham Racecourse in England, over a distance of 3 miles 2½ furlongs (5,331 m), and during its running, there are 22 fences to be jumped. The race is scheduled to take place each year during the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Horse Racing is a very popular sport, after all, it is the “Sport of Kings” and HM Queen is a great patron. The Cheltenham Festival is a very popular event and accommodation can be hard to find.

Our Forest of Dean Lodges at Coleford make it ideal for this sporting event. We are far enough away to avoid mass crowds and traffic but close enough to attend the festival on a daily basis. This way, you get the best of both worlds.

Over the 4 days of the Cheltenham Festival, there are expected to be over 260,000 visitors. As you can imagine, the accommodation will not hang around.

For this reason alone, check out our Forest of Dean accommodation and book yourself in for the whole of the festival. Nobody likes to miss out on this fantastic sporting event. You might also want to stay longer and celebrate St. Patrick’s day in the Forest of Dean as well. You are more than welcome.
